New paradigm in product development and
manufacturing
EV’S are poised to
become a Catalyst of Economy through increased revenues , higher
employment , reduction in cost of
operation , reduction in cost of
logistics , and improved customer
satisfaction
The global and
Indian Electric Vehicle Market
The global electric vehicle market was valued at $163.01 billion in
2020, and is projected to reach $1000 billion by 2030 at CAGR
of 20 % . The
Indian EV industry is expected to expand at a CAGR of 36%. NITI
Aayog aims to achieve EV sales penetration of 70% for all commercial cars, 30%
for private cars, 40% for buses and 80% for two and three-wheelers by 2030
Open Source & Collaborative Design
In lines of open Source Products Camera , Guitar
,Knitting Machine , Washing
Machine , Microwave oven open source
electric vehicle design has been proposed . The elements
of the new architecture for EV are Modularized
design ,Open Bill of Material
(BOM) , BOM layers with standardized designs and interfaces , Modularized Process
for open source design , Interface standards and protocol exchange mechanism .
Open source design is at the core
of new paradigm of design methodology. Aim of the
initiative is to create
objects and artefacts that can be
manufactured and assembled locally, anywhere in the world. In modular approach to product design, the
product is viewed as a system of systems
. A system is portioned into several modules. Modules
are connected sub-systems of components having a specific
function, put together in a way that performs the required task. These modules can themselves be
composed of various basic parts, which
are inter-compatible .Most of the parts 80
% used in designs are
standard components that can be
get delivered anywhere. The specific
parts 20 % used to connect those standard components
are designed such as they can be manufactured using open source 3 D printing
printers of different material
including metals
Standardized
Interfaces is a
key element in the field of modularity ensuring that combined, but independent, modular parts
form a functional whole. Their role is twofold: on one hand they establish
boundaries, but on the other hand they develop connections. It is necessary to
define their mutual interactions of
modules , the related interfaces and
connectivity .
